KIDS! Basket Weaving

Course Description: Explore the basics of basketry and learn to weave a basket, suitable for a waste basket, harvesting basket, homework basket, or whatever you can dream up! Students will be able to choose the rough dimensions (to a limit) of their custom basket as we explore different techniques, natural dyes, and maybe even some different materials to weave into their utile carrier. Over the duration of this three day course, our goal is for students to complete the base, weaving, and rim of a finished basket to take home, but also to take time and explore creative expression and handwork through craft. Based on experience level and project scope, students may have time to make one bigger basket or multiple smaller baskets.

Materials: $25

Students bring: scissors, a blanket and low stool or pillow to sit on, a spray bottle for hydrating baskets, full size towel to lay your basket on, a 3-5 gallon bucket if you have one. *We have extra tools if there is anything on this list you need.
