We will make a small bench with dovetails and mortise-and-tenon joinery cut by hand. You will learn to four-square mill wood with hand planes. We will then hand-cut mortise-and-tenon and dovetail joints. We will make a small bench with dovetails and a mortise-and-tenon joint. We will cover hand tool sharpening, tuning, and use of planes, chisels, and other hand tools. This is a complex project and takes a while to complete, so we allow for 9 weeks of class, but understand that over 2 months, it's likely you will miss a few of the Mondays. If you plan to attend 7 of the 9 classes, you should be able to complete your project. You will also have access to the wood shop in the second month of class for the purpose of completing your project if needed during our membership hours.
